But there are many others to choose from.

On the metaphysical level Ms. Q told me that because this species of plant produces so many rosettes and fat succulent leaves that any negative entity is compelled to stop and count the number of leaves the plant has but because of so many leaves, the negative entities lose count and are forced to start counting all over again, until the sun rises and the entity must return to where it originated with its mission uncompleted.

The Welsh would have them grow on their roof, wanting to keep it there as it is believed by them that if it is removed or picked by a stranger, bad luck and perhaps the death of one of the family would happen.

It’s believed to also protect the house from fire and lightning and keeps the household members safe and prosperous.

And It is also believed that it protects the household against witchcraft.

The Holy Roman Emperor Charlemagne (742-814 AD) ordered all his subjects to grow them on their roofs, presumably to offer protection against lightning.

Somehow this plant also became aligned with the belief with a vampire legend that vampires can't resist counting everything they see.

Those who believed the legend used it to their advantage by sprinkling graves and graveyards with seeds, grains, or anything else that was difficult to count. Because of their numerous knots, fishing nets were also a popular choice, and would often be buried with corpses or mounted over doors.

Both methods were believed to be especially effective because of how slowly vampires were believed to count.

In Vampires, Burial, and Death: Folklore and Reality, Paul Barber writes, "Usually what is at issue is a harnessing of the revenants [vampire's] compulsions: he must collect the grains one at a time, and often just one grain per year. This so engages his attention that he is obliged to drop all other pursuits."

And with the many leaves and rosettes that the Hen and Chicks plant has a vampire is compelled to count them until sunrise, this also holds true for witchcraft workings.

Of course Ms. Q said it would completely slow down the plot of a novel, movie or T.V. series so the writers completely skip that idea.

This plant grows well in containers next to your front door as well as in soil and it looks so pretty lining up a walk way.

It can also be grown indoors as well if you live in an apartment, then have it near your front door.

In Ms. Q’s words Bright Blessings
VooDoo Queenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/11009368155195205624noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3400471483592958984.post-1916729263652115672017-12-19T16:32:12.531-08:002017-12-19T16:32:12.531-08:00What about the Hen and Chicks plant being a protec...What about the Hen and Chicks plant being a protection plant?PurpleGreenMehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00827295727319782081noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3400471483592958984.post-84680644174578902022017-09-05T07:58:15.416-07:002017-09-05T07:58:15.416-07:00Thank you Betty,
