"What are my Spiritual Gifts??"~~~~~

Hello Everyone,

Well Easter or Spring Break has been FUN!  

 I swear it's getting harder and harder to keep up with the grandchildren and my great-nieces and nephews, and good news, one of them if finally getting married,  I'm glad I'm not involved with the wedding planning.   Just sit back and watch the fun.  

At least she'll not be a bridezilla, she wants a simple wedding and food will be an old-fashion Bar-B-Que, but it will be next year.   Thank Goodness. 

But now I've got to get back to answering questions, and I've got a lot of questions that will require a blog post, and even some that may be repeating things I've covered before.   

So here we go------

 Dear Ms. Q,

“How do I find out what are my spiritual gifts?”

I get this question a lot, with variations but to be honest everyone has a spiritual gift to a greater or lesser degree

But what your “spiritual gift” is,  is hard to say, it depends upon what does one mean by “spiritual gift” (or gifts), and in what context.

If we are referring it to the Heavenly gifts of Faith, Hope and Charity we should be doing that all the time, that is having Faith in ourselves and what we can possibly do to aid others.   Giving Hope to those who are in dire need or are damaged in spirit and Charity where we give that to those less fortunate, by means of food, clothing, and even jobs. 

Then these are things that are spiritual gifts which we should be doing every day of the week, having compassion, understanding and forgiveness as well as  thinking outside of ourselves and our own self-centeredness and self-interests, getting away from the Diva and Divo drama and saying “how do I help my brothers and sisters?”

If that is what you’re asking then go to church or temple or work with a charity, and this would also include those fellow creatures who have no voice, birds and sea life coated with oil, dogs and cats abused and abandon, creatures on the verge of extinction, natural habitat being destroyed by Human greed.   By helping all of life you exercise your spiritual gifts.  You will discover within yourself what you have to offer, and what you’ll find is your best reward.

BUT if you are talking about those gifts that are of the “paranormal” variety, then that is something else entirely.    Many folks have an intuitive ability for different things, such as knowing when someone is depressed, or comforting them and their family when someone is dying, or just knowing when you’re going to get a phone call, or having a dream, then to find that it comes true.

How often have you looked at someone and without talking to them you know they are feeling “blue” or just “pink” with joy or “red” with anger, if you can do that then you are reading their aura without realizing it.  And that can be a spiritual gift.

How often have you walked into a room and suddenly you realize you don’t want to be there, there is a horrible feeling about it, you are being an empath or clairsentient to the atmosphere in the room.   And that is a spiritual gift.

There are many abilities, so let’s start with these that are called  the Clair senses.

 The Clair Senses can encompass many field and this is a collective word that I’ve occasionally seen here and there.   Most people are familiar with the word Clairvoyance but there are others types of psychic sensitivity corresponding to the senses of seeing, hearing, feeling, smelling, tasting, and touching, and just being aware.

Breaking it down the Clair Senses in psychic terms are translated as----  clairvoyance, clairaudience, clairsentience, clairscent, clairtangency, and clairgustance, with additional  gifts of clairempathy and the most confusing aspect called channeling.

And extremely sensitive people can have one or more of these abilities.    Now they are listed as:

CLAIRVOYANCE----(clear vision) – A person who has this ability is called a  clairvoyant, or one who receives extrasensory impressions, and symbols in the form of "inner sight" or mental images which are perceived without the aid of the physical eyes and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space. These impressions are more easily perceived in an alpha state and during meditation, though many clairvoyants can obtain visual information regarding the past, present and future in a variety of environments.   But it takes work to be able to reach into another vibrational frequency and visually perceive "within the mind's eye" something existing in that realm.   Some people are able to do it naturally but need training to control it, for others they may have it flickering on the edges of their mind but need training to bring it out.

CLAIRAUDIENCE---(clear audio /hearing) – This is to perceive sounds or words and extrasensory noise, from sources broadcast from the spiritual or ethereal realm, in the form of "inner ear" or mental tone which are perceived without the aid of the physical ear and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space. These tones and vibrations are more easily perceived again in an alpha state and during meditation, though many clairaudients can obtain verbal and sound-related information regarding the past, present and future in a variety of environments.  Most Channelers (also known as Mediums) work with both clairvoyance and clairaudience. 

With both types of these senses some people do not know how to handle it and they can either be perceived as being insane or just plain “nuts” or can be driven insane if they are not taught or trained what it is and how to handle it. 

CLAIRSENTIENCE------ (clear sensation or feeling) – This is to perceive information by a "feeling" within the whole body, without any outer stimuli related to the feeling or information. (Also see clairempathy)

Almost everyone has the ability of Clairsentience that is if they are not over stimulated by video games, drugs, or loud heavy music.   You go into a room and you’ll either feel happy or sad, in some cases even depressed, I’ve had that happen in the space of one day, I tell you going to estate sales are the hardest things for me to go to.  Even with just using Clairsentience it can hit a person very hard. 

CLAIRSCENT-----(clear smelling) – To smell a fragrance/odor of substance or food which is not in one's surroundings. These odors are perceived without the aid of the physical nose and beyond the limitations of ordinary time and space.   This is an odd sort of ability but it does happen to folks when they least expect it, it’s not like someone burning a pot of potatoes or the Pot Roast and there’s a bit of a breeze and it wafts into the neighbor’s house,  I’ve had that happen on a few occasions.

 This is where you can be at a construction site and there is the smell of dust and concrete and all of a sudden you’re hit with the unmistakable scent of roses or lavender or jasmine that means that you are in the presence of a spirit.   Many spirits will manifest themselves with a particular scent for some it can be the smell of pipe tobacco as an example, or a certain aftershave, when none of these products are around. 

CLAIRTANGENCY----(clear touching) ----This is more commonly known as psychometry. To handle an object or touch an area and perceive through the palms of one's hands information about the article or its owner or history that was not previously known by the clairtangent. 

 This is another form of medium-ship, in some cases to make contact with a particular spirit holding or touching an object that belonged to that person will be used.   That is why I cannot touch old children’s doll’s, brand-new ones is not a problem but old ones are particularly difficult to work with because of the child-like love, jewelry is another matter, but again this can be a difficult thing to handle, that is why some people dislike to be touched or to touch things and it can be more than just germs.

For me I really have a problem going to a Flea Market, estate or yard sale, or Antique Store and so I avoid handling objects as much as possible.

CLAIRGUSTANCE---- (clear tasting) – This is to be able to taste a substance without putting anything in one's mouth. It is claimed that those who possess this ability are able to perceive the essence of a substance from the spiritual or ethereal realms through taste.   I’ve had this happen when I was in a very spiritual location and all of a sudden I had the taste of pure water in my mouth, so pure that it was like a liquid crystal.   I found out later that the location had been the site of Marian apparitions.

CLAIREMPATHY----(clear emotion) – An Empath is a person who can psychically tune in to the emotional experience of a person, place or animal. Clairempathy is a type of telepathy to sense or feel within one's self, the attitude, emotion or ailment of another person or entity. Empaths tune into the vibrations and "feel" the tones of the aura.    For people who have this ability it is very important that they have a living environment that is calm, and that they are away from people who show high emotional drama, to them it is exhausting.  Because of this you may find people who prefer to work in quiet low drama type of work, like accounting or Library work, some people may become loners or prefer to work at night. 

Clairempathy is a far more heightened sense than Clairsentience and is far more difficult to simply “shake” off.

CHANNEL/CHANNELING

Channel -- A person who allows his/her body and mind to be used as a mechanism for etheric world intelligence to bring psychic information or healing energy to others.

Channeling -- To allow an etheric world intelligence to enter one's mind and impress thoughts upon the consciousness to be spoken aloud, using one's voice or body to deliver the information or healing energy.

Being both a Channel as well as Channeling is a form of mediumship and it can take a toll on one’s body, if one has this ability then its best to get proper training for it from a Spiritualist Church, the head office of the Spiritualist Church is located in Lily Dale, New York.   There are local Spiritualist churches that are affiliated with the Main church in Lily Dale, and they hold their training to a much higher degree that one expects.  

                               

Now within the Clair senses are various psychic abilities and I have here a list of alleged psychic abilities that have been attributed to real-world people. Many of these abilities are also known as extrasensory perception or sixth sense. Superhuman abilities from fictional characters are not included, sorry but Superman and Harry Potter wannabe’s are not listed here.

These are Notable psychic abilities that have been documented by paranormal researchers:

    Apportation – Materialization, disappearance or teleportation of an object.

    Aura reading – Perception of energy fields surrounding people, places and things

    Automatic writing – Writing produced without conscious thought

    Astral projection or mental projection – An out-of-body experience in which an astral body becomes separate from the physical body

    Bilocation or multilocation – Being in multiple places at the same time.

    Clairvoyance or second sight – Perception outside the known human senses. (see Clairsenses)

    Death-warning – A vision of a living person prior to their death.

    Divination – Gaining insight into a situation, most commonly through a ritual.

    Dowsing – Ability to locate objects, sometimes using a tool called a dowsing rod

    Energy medicine – Healing by channeling a form of energy.

    Empathy: The ability to feel others' emotional or physical feelings. (see Clairsenses)

    Faith healing – Diagnosing or curing diseases using religious devotion. (see Miracles)

    Levitation – Bodily levitation and flying

    Mediumship or channeling – Communicating with spirits. (see Clairsenses)

    Precognition, premonition and precognitive dreams – Perception of events before they happen.

    Psychic surgery – Removal of diseased body tissue via an incision that heals immediately afterwards

    Psychokinesis or telekinesis – The ability to manipulate or move objects by the power of thought.

    Psychometry or psychoscopy – Obtaining information about a person or object, usually by touching or concentrating on the object or a related object. (see Clairsenses)

    Pyrokinesis – Manipulation of fire. (Not proven)

    Remote viewing – Gathering of information at a distance.

    Retrocognition or post-cognition – Perception of past events as oppose to Precognition (see above)

   Scrying – Use of an item to view events at a distance or in the future. (Using a mirror or crystal       ball or Palmistry or Tarot card/oracle card reading)

    Telepathy – Transfer of thoughts, words or emotions in either direction.         

But there are other spiritual gifts that really do not come under the heading of psychic abilities, but are a spiritual gift none the less,

Such as working as a:

Rieki healer,

Massage therapist

Grief counselor

Teen or young adult counselor to troubled youth

Hospice nurse or aid

Mid-wife 

Fireman

Policeman

EMT rescue worker

Aid worker to a senior care facility

Training dogs for the blind

Caring for injured or sick animals

Librarian

Believe it or not when you are working in these fields and others similar to it, you are drawing upon not only your training but also your own psychic awareness to things, tuning into it.

So O.K. what if for example you always seem to know what is going to happen before it happens that is called Pre-cognition, does it work all the time? No it doesn’t because some people will ask “well what’s the winning numbers for the Lotto or what is the winning horse in the 5^th race”  no that gift does not work that way, usually it comes as a form of a warning about an event.

For example:  

 The Titanic---many people received some warning about the Titanic that it was sinking or was going to sink, in one case an author wrote a book titled “Futility” about an unsinkable ship named the Titan and described almost accurately how it sank 10 years before the Titanic was built.   This was a combination of Telepathy as well as pre-cognition.

For some people they will have a sort of psychic event only once in their life, usually caused by either a form of stress or an internal spiritual bond between two people, parent and child is usually the most often type of bond, as well as a bond between identical twins, or between very loving couples, does it happen all the time, no it doesn’t but it can happen.

For Example: 

 I was working the front desk at my job when I suddenly got a fission of energy going up my spine, and had an awareness in my mind to call my Mother, she was in fear of something. Taking a short break, I went into the office and called, my Mother picked up the phone and I asked her first thing “Mom what’s wrong!”  and she said “How did you know?”  I said I’d explain later, it turned out that an hanging electric lamp that was on, was sparking,  I told her to turn off the light switch to it and that stopped the sparking,  I said I’d call someone but to be ready to grab her purse and the dog and get out of the house just in case.

Then I called a friend of mine who was an electrician,  told him what was happening he happen to have a couple of free hours between jobs (a rare event) so he went over to my Mom’s house and discovered the broken wire to the lamp, he fixed it with a simple splice and since it was near Christmas put a bow on the lamp and said “Merry Christmas!”    Later I told Mom what I sensed, the bond between my Mother and I was very close, to make it very clear not only was she my Mother, but she was also my “teacher”,  best friend and confidant.

But that gives you an idea how a paranormal event can happen, and in a way it was a spiritual gift.

So how do you know what kind of gift do you have?   

Well that is where you have to do a bit of research on yourself.   O.K. so how does one do that?  It’s easy, you keep a journal, it can be as simple as a small note book that you can keep on yourself and when something happens where you sense something or something seemingly inexplicable happens, write it down and see if it happens or if it happens more than once. 

The most common event is thinking of someone and within a few minutes or hours that person calls you, the next most common event is sensing the feeling of a room, or sensing the “aura” of a person.  

But another thing is to ask friends and family if they’ve ever noticed something that you do that is just a bit out of the ordinary or something that you seem to have a knack or ability for.    Then see if it matches any of the Clair senses or paranormal senses, that will tell you what your spiritual gift is for.  

Interestingly I had one acquaintance who could tell how something is going to taste before tasting it and developed into becoming an amazing cook and pastry chef, the last I heard is she branching into candy.   This is an example of clairgustance or clear tasting.

And you could have more than one “gift”.   But what do you do if you want to train your gift?  Well it depends on what your gift is, among Spiritualist churches there is what they call development groups and that will be a start, but if you seem to want to have a more hands on approach such as Massage therapy then take courses and become certified in that as well.  

If you do not know where to look then go to this web site www.spiritualistresources.com  depending on what country or state you live in, it is at least a start to help you find your path.  

Now another way is also to check in with a local reputable metaphysical shop, the better ones will hold classes periodically, depending upon time and availability of teachers.    This is especially true if you have the gift for Scrying, or Reiki work.

Now there are some people and you may have a “friend” or acquaintance who does this constantly saying “I felt that!  I knew it was gonna happen!  I’ve got the Power!”   etc. etc. etc.   Well that kind of person I run away from because they like the drama and being the center of attention.  And it’s always after the fact, never before.

Myself, I usually quietly will tell a person in private what I’m sensing, and offer advice, if they want it, if something does happen my usual remark is to quietly say “I was afraid that might happen.”   But I always say it quietly and gently Without Drama. 

But when you have a “gift” then develop it and  always use it for the best and greatest good, to help others help themselves.
