I'm back and feeling better and my thoughts on this Presidential Election~~~~

Hello Everyone,

This is Ms. Q.

I’m back and feeling better, I want to Thank all of you for your Good Wishes for my getting better,  Thank You again.

Some of you have posted questions please be patient I will answer them as soon as humanly possible.

I have to admit that when I get a vaccination shot be it for the flu, shingles (that can really hurt), or pneumonia, that I am flattened, down and out for the count, and the only thing is to rest for a few days,  no fever or chills, just a general achiness, sleepiness and tiredness, more than usual.  And as one gets older one has to be careful even with vaccinations.

This one really did me in,  I know with younger folks they feel a little off, the arm hurts and then the next day they’re fine.   Not me, just let me find my bed and let me sleep.

And it seems I slept through all the “nail biting” watching the results of the polls, well as I said to my niece “It’s in the hands of the people” and the people spoke and sent a clear message to the former administration.

A lot of people protested across the nation, even doing vandalism, students walked out of class rooms,  and Teachers even in our area a Principal walked out with them and voiced their displeasure.

 But the teachers and that Principal made a big mistake.  Instead of walking out they should have made this election a “Teachable Moment” and taught the students how this all worked and why it happened, and educate them on how our election process as well as how the government works.   They lost an opportunity and instead went with emotion instead of logic, at least we have the right of free assembly, there are countries that do not grant that right,  but even so it does not give people the right to destroy and vandalize property.

 If you look at the numbers,  Trump carried 30 states to Clinton’s 20 states, and even though she might have won the popular vote by over 100 thousand,  Trump got the Electoral Votes of 288 to Clinton’s 233 (or was it 218)  and that is what decides the election.  The Electoral College will meet on December 19 after all the ballots are counted (mail in’s and absentee) to vote and declare who is the winner and if that person is qualified (either by health or mental stability) to be president.   That is part of the checks and balances in play.

We also have to look at each state county by county (or in Louisiana parish by parish) and see which way each county voted and that is telling, very telling, it’s sending a message to the administration what people are thinking and saying,  even in blue states, you have to look at each county to see how the vote went because even if a State went blue (democrat) if you look at the counties, not all of them went blue they went red (republican)   we as a nation have to look at that.

If nothing else this is a Teachable moment, for a lot of people especially our younger generation, they truly need to understand how our government system works and how constitutional law works and the checks and balances that was put into our governing system by our Founding Fathers,   they did that to prevent mob rule and a monarchy, they had seen in Europe what happened they did not want it here. (Think French Revolution and the unwarranted execution of innocent people)

When I got my head back together after my vaccination shot, I meditated and I decided to draw a card to get an idea of what the people of this nation need to do to get itself back together and It seems we need to know if we have the ability to carry on after the events of this past election day so drawing a card from Tarot I drew STRENGTH.  And just like in one of those car insurance commercials I say “Perfect”!  But in a good way.

Strength's Meaning is about Energy · Facing problems · Strength · Vitality · Willpower: Raw power. Health and physical fortitude. A surge of tremendous force. Recovery from sickness. Victory after apprehension and fear. The ability to face and overcome opposition brings the inner qualities of strength and forbearance. Delays and setbacks will be overcome.

Strength is the rawest form of power, and this nation possess it in some form. It is a very happy card if people are fighting illness or recovering from injury. As might be suspected, its influence over this nation, and the use this nation can put it to, can trend towards light or dark. This nation likely trends towards facing its problems courageously, head-on, and conquering them through perseverance and will. With this ability to overcome life's obstacles, though, comes the responsibility for this nation to control itself, and it this card may be a warning this nation to take command of its actions or emotions before they damage each individual or the people one cares about.  Stop the protests, stop the rioting, stop the vandalism, it solves Nothing!  And only divides this nation even further.

This nation’s strength can be balanced and have both physical endurance and mental strength. This inner strength may lead this nation to explore the other potentials for its abilities.

It should not turn down any offers that will change and improve its future. It must Have faith in its own convictions, and be strong enough to trust where it will land.

There is a strong, energetic release in this nation’s future which will lead it into major life changes. By understanding this nation’s true value, the people will make the most of a wonderful chance to improve their lives.

The Strength card shows a presence of self-assurance and confidently facing problems in this nation’s life. It suggests those who enjoys power but has the capacity to exercise great self-control in all matters. Patience and strength may be required in all pursuits, and the answer this nation seeks is most likely yes.

This is perhaps the best card to draw for the days after an election, it doesn’t matter who won or lost, what is important is that we draw upon the strength that we have, mentally, emotionally and spiritually to get on with our lives and do the best we can, make the most of what we have and know that we have the courage of our personal convictions to carry on.

The beauty about this card is it gives a person the courage to know who are really good friends and who are fly by nights, who will be one’s friend in spite of political differences because a true friend knows that not everyone will agree on everything.   And that takes strength.

We have the strength to face life’s difficulties, its foibles, its ups and downs and if we can laugh about it and learn from it even better.  Or at least to know how to rant at it and then get on with trying to solve it.   And that takes strength.

We have to see what develops and work with it accordingly, the local measures is what will directly affect us, but what happens on a nationwide level will take years to affect us.  The main thing is to not run to Canada, which some people plan to do which is foolish and stupid, that means that they do not have the strength to deal with things or be active in making changes or even adapting.

By having strength on mental, emotional, spiritual and to a certain extent physical levels we are the better persons, we are truly the courageous persons, we rise about the fray,  those that rant and rail at things are small minded and ineffective, they do nothing, but truly strong people will see where their abilities can help to make things strong.

Those that stay stuck in the past the “shoulda bins”, are not seeing past what is now nor are they looking for positive opportunities but instead will try to shove their agenda down one’s throat until they force one to accept it.   No, a truly strong person will say or think  “I Know my own mind, I will make up my own mind and it doesn’t have to be your way”

Because a truly strong person will draw strength to follow their own path, not someone else’s.   We may might find losing some friends, but then were they really friends?  The real friends will stay with you in spite of differences.

We should not have protests that block commerce or vandalize businesses, that is not dignified, it only shows the losers to be nothing more than thugs, and that projects a negative image to other countries, and that is something we don’t want to do.

The Founding Fathers of this country created a democratic republic, not a democracy, the system they created has three separate divisions that are equal and within that there are checks and balances they did that because they, the Founding Fathers, saw what happened in foreign countries, so they created a system with checks and balances to prevent mob rule,  but if people protest in the streets and do not look at how the governmental system works, then they are pushing mob rule  which causes chaos.

The winner of this election cannot become a monarch, because of our checks and balances in our governmental system, but the people of this country needs to let their representatives know that they, the people, are not being listened to, that is why we have elections.  From my perspective it seems that the loosing candidate has not really listened to all the people of this country and that is why the loosing candidate loss.   And that sends a very strong message to everyone in the former and in the up-coming administration, they lost touch which what was and is really best for this country.   And that is a serious wake up call.

And that is what the protestors are not hearing, and are following the old agenda, and they need to learn from this election, they need to look at the demographics.  They need to listen to what the ignored people are saying and work with them, not protest but build together to make this country even better.

My Dad use to say “When a new president and administration is voted into office it’s like going to the dentist for a teeth cleaning or to take care of a toothache, we don’t like going to the dentist, it’s painful, but working with the dentist we have healthier teeth, working with a new president might make for a healthier government”    My Dad was right, and it takes strength to do that because sometimes we have to make concessions to help achieve something greater.

I am going to reprint here an article by Noah Feldman.

The Constitution Is Built to Protect the Losers

It’s all about the Constitution now. Republicans will control the White House and both chambers of Congress. They will be able to pass -- or repeal -- their preferred laws, because that’s democracy. But to the Donald Trump opponents worried about what his presidency will bring, know this: There will still be limits to congressional or executive action, limits dictated by the Constitution and enforceable by the courts. The Constitution is designed to resist the tyranny of the majority. James Madison’s machine of constitutional protection is about to kick into gear.

The Bill of Rights and the principle of equal protection give the main limits on government action, but the list of enumerated rights alone doesn’t capture the purpose of the system. Most crucially, free speech and equal protection are supposed to preserve the capacity of electoral losers -- Democrats this time around -- to continue to participate in government.

That means Trump and the Republican Party can’t stop their political opponents from expressing their views. They can’t jail opponents in violation of habeas corpus. And they can’t adopt laws that discriminate on the basis of race or sex or religion or national origin.

The good news is that the courts as presently configured are overwhelmingly likely to enforce these restrictions. Start with the First Amendment jurisprudence. Today’s judicial conservatives are more likely to be free-speech absolutists than judicial liberals. I have great confidence that Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, for example, would continue to apply his strongly speech-protectionist reading of the free-speech clause against laws passed by a Republican Congress, and that he would have no trouble getting a majority for his approach.

As for equal protection, the deepest judicial divisions for several decades have been over affirmative action, which conservatives say amounts to prohibited discrimination. There’s been much less disagreement about whether laws that facially discriminate on the basis of race are permitted: The consensus is that they are not unless justified by a compelling interest and narrowly tailored to it. A Republican-passed law that discriminated overtly would almost certainly be struck down.

True, the justices have sometimes divided about whether laws that are facially race-neutral are actually discriminatory. It might be hard to get consensus about such laws. But once the Supreme Court is back to full strength with the appointment and confirmation of a conservative to fill Antonin Scalia’s seat, the swing vote is going to be Justice Anthony Kennedy once again. And as the gay-rights cases demonstrated, Kennedy is acutely attuned to the value of human dignity. He’s also made it extremely clear that he has no interest in reversing Roe v. Wade.

If Trump gets to replace a liberal justice -- Ruth Bader Ginsburg (age 83) or Stephen Breyer (78) -- then the court would have an outright conservative majority. Conceivably, that could lead to revisiting decisions like Roe v. Wade or the gay-marriage decision, Obergefell v. Hodges.

But it’s extremely unlikely that the court would fundamentally roll back either of these rights. Despite its unpopularity, Roe has proved stunningly durable over the 43 (!) years since it was decided. Reversing it at this point would mark the court as wildly disrespectful of precedent. Chief Justice John Roberts has repeatedly signaled that he considers such extreme activism to be distasteful. And as a practical political matter, a reversal of Roe would fuel backlash against Republican candidates.

Gay marriage is, of course, a much newer right, and it would be easier for a conservative majority to overturn Obergefell, which has not yet acquired the patina of precedent. Yet the small-c conservative aspect of the Obergefell decision, with its celebration of the bourgeois institution of marriage, renders it much safer than might otherwise be thought. There would also be the tremendous practical problem of what to do about thousands of gay people who are already married -- not to mention the further practical difficulties associated with gay marriage being recognized in some states but not others.

This is not to deny that a conservative Supreme Court could render strongly conservative decisions on a wide range of issues. It could, and it would.

Rather, the point is that even a conservative court would police the boundaries of legislation to preserve the basic structures of fundamental democratic rights. It might not do so aggressively, but it would still impose limits on Congress and the president.

Why am I so confident the courts would play their designated role of protecting the minority from the tyranny of the majority? The answer lies in the power of the institutional culture of the judiciary and of the rule of law.

There are many controversial issues in American legal thought, and there exist strongly conservative views on all of them. But even the most conservative judges and lawyers believe today that one purpose of the Constitution is to protect against majority oppression and that it’s the job of judges to make it do so.

There is good reason for legal conservatives to celebrate the election results and for legal liberals to deplore them. And if the court goes conservative, there will be plenty of opportunities for conservative justices to push their agenda.

The crucial takeaway, however, is that the basic rights and the rule of law aren’t going to disappear because Donald Trump was elected. The Constitution was built for our situation. It will endure, whatever challenges it may face.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sometimes it’s takes strength to keep silent and just listen and then do what works best,  sometimes we slip up,  but if we can maintain that strength of one’s own convictions,  in a dignified and coming together way then this nation can come out of it stronger.    And that is what we should do.
Bright Blessings,
Ms. Q
  1. It's sad that only 42% of the people voted.
    1. Dear Sarina,
      I’m going to have to reply to your observation in 2 parts, first I’m going to deal with the demographics of who voted and by what percentage points
      By income, Clinton led only among voters with a 2015 family income under $50,000- a group the included 36% of the voters in the polls.
      Clinton edged out trump with 52% of moderate voters, Bur more people identified more conservative-leaning than liberal, though. A stark divide between the left and the right is evident here.
      While people living in urban areas predictably voted Democrat, and those in rural areas voted republican, it’s interesting to see that Trump captured more votes from people living in the suburbs than Clinton did.
      While the polling showed that voters with less education were flocking to trump he still saw a good amount of support from voters with higher education
      White non-Hispanic voters preferred Trump over Clinton by 21 percentage points (58% to 37%), according to the exit poll conducted by Edison Research for the National Election Pool. Romney won whites by 20 percentage points in 2012 (59% to 39%).
      However, although Trump fared little better among blacks and Hispanics than Romney did four years ago, Hillary Clinton did not run as strongly among these core Democratic groups as Obama did in 2012. Clinton held an 80-point advantage among blacks (88% to 8%) compared with Obama’s 87-point edge four years ago (93% to 6%). In 2008, Obama had a 91-point advantage among blacks.
      Among whites, Trump won an overwhelming share of those without a college degree; and among white college graduates – a group that many identified as key for a potential Clinton victory – Trump outperformed Clinton by a narrow 4-point margin.
      Although polls do show that 54 per cent of women backed Clinton compared to 42 per cent for Trump, these numbers were not significantly different from how women voted in 2012. In the 2012 presidential race, 55 per cent of women backed Obama while 44 per cent backed Romney.
      Despite all the headlines surrounding Trump, it seems that women didn't feel they could get behind Hillary Clinton. One Demo female voter who voted for Trump said “I don’t want her brand of feminism” That is very telling. Clinton had less support from the young, and failed to completely win over women, African Americans, and Hispanics.
      Another thing that many politicals don’t realize is those who are young and vote Democrat today, will as they mature and see reality will when they turn 40 or 50 will vote Republican tomorrow. The misty cloud of “Pie in the sky” has been removed from their eyes and they see the really nitty-gritty of reality. And the sad fact is that many young voters don’t really think for themselves and look at facts they only hear the dreams that are promised.
      My Daddy use to say “don’t be a sheep following the Judas Goat to the slaughter house” the big question is which candidate is the Judas Goat. And just because your Democrat or Republican today doesn’t mean you can’t change your mind and switch, you CAN.
    2. PART 2
      Four years ago 50 per cent of those in small cities and rural areas voted for Romney while Obama did well on 48 per cent.
      It would seem that Trump was extremely successful in appealing to these voters with 62 per cent supporting him in his presidential bid - a double-digit percentage point increase.
      Similarly, Clinton performed significantly worse than Obama did among those at the lower end of the pay scale with 52 per cent of those earning less than $50,000 voting for her compared to 60 per cent for Obama.
      Class has been a bigger factor in this election than in any election since the New Deal era.
      Trump’s insurgency rode largely on middle- and working-class fears about globalization, immigration and the cultural arrogance of the “progressive” cultural elite. This is something Bill Clinton understands better than his wife.
      Trump owes his election to what one writer has called “the leftover people.” These may be “deplorables” to the pundits but their grievances are real – their incomes and their lifespans have been decreasing.
      They have noticed, as Thomas Frank has written, that the Democrats have gone “from being the party of Decatur to the party of Martha’s Vineyard.”
      Many of these voters were once Democrats, and feel they have been betrayed. And they include a large swath of the middle class, whose fury explains much of what happened election night.
      Trump has connected better with these voters than Romney, who won those making between $50,000 and $90,000 by a narrow 52 percent margin. Early analysis of this year’s election showed Trump doing better among these kind of voters.
      America is a nation of many economies, but those that produce real, tangible things — food, fiber, energy and manufactured goods — went overwhelmingly for Trump.
      He won virtually every state from Appalachia to the Rockies, with the exceptions of heavily Hispanic Colorado, Nevada and New Mexico, and President Obama’s home base of Illinois.
      Clinton made a very big mistake, she ignored the middle class, she ignored the working person who is there down at ground level seeing how bad the economy has become, she ignored the shoe maker, the baker, the plumber, the electrician, the carpenter, both men and women, she became an elitist.
      And calling the working low and middle income folks the ones who got a high school education and those that were lucky to get some college education before it got priced beyond their reach, calling them “Deplorables” was a very big mistake, worse than Donald Trumps’ unfiltered mind. I was leaning towards Clinton but that remark put my teeth on edge.
      Clinton forgot the reality of what is happening in this nation, and that was her biggest mistake.
      I have voted in every election, I never missed a one, even with my health problems I still vote by mail, anyone who does not vote, even if the person they preferred lost, has no right to complain, especially if they didn’t vote. Each individual vote DOES Count.
      A good part of the problem is too many people believed that Clinton was going to win, that was a big mistake, all those calls you get on your phone, those flyers etc. have one really BIG message, VOTE, even if it’s for the opposition VOTE!
      That is why the Middle Class, the shoe maker, the baker, the farmer, the waitress, the fry cook, that is why they won.
      Those people who cannot afford an electric car, or solar panels on the roof of their home or pay for the high cost of organic food, or cannot afford a college education, or private schools for their kids, they were the ones who made their voice heard.
      Not the college professor, or one with a high class education, who think that a person who gets their hands dirty digging a ditch and looks down on them, no those elitists didn’t win, it was “The Deplorables” and Clinton Blew it.
      So Vote at every election Presidential, mid-term just Vote!
      Bright Blessings,
    3. Dear Ms. Q,
      I do not think Clinton called people like me deplorable...I think the deplorable remark was a bad choice but probabably directed at the palpable hatred of much of the tone and actions of the Trump campaign and a segment of the supporters, but it was a sweeping statement and those always are incorrect and offensive, as are the ones above about progressives. I realize coverage was different in different counties, states, etc. and evevn the campaigning was tailored, but my own experience was through people I know, and their circles, and it was ugly). I have experienced many of the difficulties and frustrations that many Americans have experienced first hand or through a loved ones, yet still I strive for something better, and to be responsible to the planet as my meager means allows. Sometimes it takes years to afford technology that others take for granted, yet still I appreciate the briiliance of it. The waitress, fry cook, ditch digger, the retail worker, we are not the middle class, we are the working poor. Middle class living is just out of reach. I know what it is to work an office job and I know what it is to work in labor until my feet bled and my heart skipped beats due to sheer exhaustion. To work multiple jobs at once to pay rent, to get your hours cut every other week so an employer can avoid paying benefits. To do the majority of the work, management, and train others yet to be paid less because I am female or due to a lack of a degree. Not imagined or guessed, but told straight out when meeting with bosses after entering payroll for each employee.
      Because someone has a GED and/or works getting their hands dirty it does not mean we can not be or are not progressive. I disagree that caring for the earth, wanting quality, timely medical care, desiring education for self and for it to be accessible to all income levels,to all health levels and ages, wanting clean safe spaces, affordable housing, being interested in broader things that are distant, and other progressive hopes does not make one an elitist. The true elitists of this country do not want those things for the general population, but only for their own immediate circles and 'classes' and exploit our hopes or desperation through indentured servitude or through interest rates that border on loan sharking and rents that bring the word serfdom to mind. They are the people who do not care about anything but their own profit and comfort, and look down on working people who can not afford good haircuts,name brand shoes, have rough hands and ragged nails, or smell like sweat after a long, hard day, No, I think it makes one a true dreamer and visionary, with a desire and a hope for something better ahead. I am a poor person who has worked very hard for poor wages during my lifetime, who has experienced chronic illness without access to good healthcare...I respect you, that you always vote, your wisdom, but I just had to say something when I read this because the remarks about progressives is a sweeping statement like Mrs. Clinton made in haste and the way you felt, that is how I feel every day, when as a progressive I am lumped into a sweeping statement that disrespects my life experience and is actually not an accurate definition of my belief system or identity...organic food is expensive for poor in the city and suburbs, but when I have been fortunate to have even a small outdoor space, can grow strawberries, basil, onions, or even tomatoes if there is tge right sunlight,that is how some us eat organic...even if we can not afford a hybrid or an old beaten up gas guzzling clunker...I think I threw that in because people sometimes give words connotations they don't deserve...organic and progressive being two of them. All just food for thought. I too, vote,and read the statements and the texts...I hope more will vote, too. Radiant Health to you, and thank you for the many other posts filled with many gems that make me feel nostalgic and as though I am chatting with a friend over tea. -M
    4. Dear M,
      I’m glad that my posts make you feel that we are having tea together, during the winter I’ll even have a log fire burning in my fireplace but if it’s a “Spare the Air Day” then I’ll have tea lights burning in it instead and we’ll be drinking tea or coffee (pumpkin spice), or hot apple cider.
      And someone will drop by and we’ll chat, our dog sleeping on the rug between us.
      I’m reminded of what a philosopher once said “Four Dry Logs have in them all the elements of 4 to 5 hours of conversation, so let us celebrate winter for it is the spring of genius”.
      I have had many conversations with family and friends, on various subjects including what is good and wrong in what needs to be done in this nation.
      I think Ms. Clinton’s remark was her “Waterloo” one easily taken in the wrong way, but she did not stop to think and instead reacted, not a wise move on her part.
      Much of the same thing is happening all over; with our young people it is due to an emotional reaction instead of analyzing the best and most peaceful ways of getting something done or to make positive change.
      I’ve said to some of my younger nieces and nephews, “If you do this, then that will happen and you have no one to blame but your own self”, It’s like that old Johnny Cash song “Don’t take your guns to town son” there is more truth to the testosterone reaction of the young males in that song than any lecture one could ever give.
      With this last election I felt that none of our candidates were right but personally I could not tolerate the communistic approach of Bernie Sanders, I felt he would have been far more harmful than either Clinton or Trump. I might have been wrong but there was something about him that gave me a dreaded chill.
      If you re-read the article that I re-printed on this post, what the author predicted has indeed come to pass and the democratic liberal side is not happy, but if they stop and realize why was Trump elected they’d be more willing to work together to compromise and save this Nations’ skin.
      But they are not thinking, they are only reacting and reacting selfishly. (In my humble opinion)
      For example: The dream act was created by an executive order of Obama, it was NOT put into law which is what really should have happened, it was only a Band-Aid measure, Obama never really put his heart into it to have it become law and many persons in Congress on both sides resented Obama’s high-handed executive actions and would not work on it.
      Continued in Part 2
    5. Part 2
      Trump is now giving Congress an ultimatum, Trump is now playing Poker, by having the Dream Act terminate in 6 months he is telling Congress to get off its collective lazy ass and pass this as a Law with far more checks and balances to have it working properly.
      He knows that the Democrats will work on this and he knows if some Republicans want to keep their elected positions they will work on it as well.
      So Congress better anti up and pass it as a Law or Fold and look like idiots and get voted out.
      Of course the Democrats will say it’s Trumps’ fault when in truth it’s their fault as well.
      Trump is playing a political/business game of Poker/Chess.
      Something that I have done when I was holding a full time job for nearly 45 years and had to deal with political infighting with fellow employees and I’ve done it all my life with family members who were obstreperous, or I’d encounter someone who was being rude, and I’ve developed my own game style (minus using magic) to allow the other fellow to look like a fool.
      This is something that I am teaching my younger family members, and they are slowly learning, I tell them that Newton’s law “For every action there is an equal but opposite reaction” this applies not only to science but also to human thought and actions, so it’s best to stop an analyze before taking hasty actions which one would soon regret.
      Of course if you’re in a burning building, well as one of our long time custodians use to tell me “Missy, ifs da buldin’ is burnin’ leave hear like its payday”.
      Another time when I was trying to figure out how to calm down a chaotic situation he came up to me and said “Ya knows Missy, sometimes whens you up to ya behinds in alligators, its be hard to remember that yous suppos’ ta drain da swamp.” And please forgive the vernacular but that is how this very wise old man talked, I can still hear his voice every time I look at a picture of him and me together laughing at a company picnic.
      Between him, my grandparents and parents and a few aunts and uncles of mine and a few other wise old people I knew in my long life, I learned to not react but simply analyze and then act.
      Now I have seen something that I hope will be the first of joint positive action and that is raising the debt ceiling to help the victims of Hurricanes Harvey and Irma, if Congress can work together on this, then this nation just might get on the right track. We can only hope and pray.
      But we are all entitled to our own opinions, there are people who may not agree, but then they have the right to disagree, that is why our nation as a democratic republic is so great, but we also need to be careful because Mob rule is rising and we cannot function as a Nation if Mobs’ runs the country, but our leaders at the State and Federal level needs to listen and everyone needs to learn to compromise.
      Lincoln once said “You can please some of the people some of the time, all of the people some of the time, some of the people all of the time, but you can never please all of the people all of the time.” And this era is a prime example of that.
      Bright Blessings,
  2. Thank you Ms Q. I hope your tribe of followers will listen to you and those who don't vote will register and start letting their voices be heard.
    It should be noted though, Trump won by the Electorial College but Clinton won by the popular votes.
    1. That is true Sarina,
      But that is part of the checks and balances that the Founding Fathers put into place to prevent Mob rule.
      As well as checks and balances within the government with the 3 divisions so that they are equal but separate.
      I have an acquaintance who studies and teaches Constitutional Law and told me that the former president violated the Constitution when he issued executive orders that had nothing to do with the security of the country. In essence he became a monarch.
      That Not what the Founding Fathers wanted.
      But with the popular vote do you want to be controlled by Mob Rule?
      That is why the Electoral College was put into place. I first thought it would be good to eliminate the Electoral College but when I studied it's function more in depth I'm glad that it is there.
      You should take time and read up on its function, it will help give you a better perspective of how important they are.
      And it is vital that they stay in place.
      I hope that more people will register to vote and that they do vote at all elections, even if its just state wide or local.
      Also I hope that when the next census forms come around that they fill them out and mail them back, that is how delegates form the Electoral College, its based on the census.
  3. And only divides this nation even further.
    I wanna fix this. USA needs ideas outside of the current left right spectrum. How do I find such ideas with magic? Or create a new one? Or create magic working to encourage others to do so? I just think we Americans need to change. Finding a unifying ideal seems to be the ticket.
    1. My Dear,
      That is good that you want to do something to fix this, and yes America needs change, positive change, but outsourcing jobs to foreign countries is not one of them, forcing people to buy health care or have them pay a penalty is not one of them, having what they call “common core” educational system (which is just another name for “new Math” which was a failure) is not one of them. Not having a balanced look at history and even talking that “shira law” should be accepted is not one of them. Not taken care of our veterans and the homeless and yet letting in thousands of immigrants and giving to them what our homeless and veterans need is not one of them. (Please understand this is not my thoughts, but what is voiced by those who voted)
      There are a lot of things that need to be fixed, but we have not had a unifying ideal since the late president Regan and he was a republican, nor a unifying ideal since Franklin D. Roosevelt and he was a Democrat, and neither of them were perfect, but they listened to the “common man and woman” they were presidents that people could rally around.
      First it’s best to create magic to calm the populace down, and take a breath and give the president-elect his first 100 days, because now the reality of this presidency is now hitting home, and it is an eye-opener, the reaction of the voters and the populace is an eye-opener and the damage done by the previous administrations is an eye opener.
      Because now we have someone going to be in office who is not a former lawyer, or career politician, but a business person. And That is an eye-opener.
      The best thing is to create magic so that people will look at what is really said by the voters, not the blue states but the red states those people that have been over-looked for far too long, and find common ground to bring back jobs to the US, improve the economy, make college more affordable, improve tax laws, build up Social Security and create a balanced medical system that is far more affordable than what was created in haste, create a reality that everyone can afford to live in good neighborhoods, provide healthy food, clean air, clean water etc. without this becoming a Nanny State or even a Nanny Nation.
      During World War II in the Summer of 1940 covens in England gathered to create a massive Cone of Power to repelled the invasion by Nazi forces that were planning to cross the English Channel.
      It was claimed, that their efforts were responsible for half the Spanish Armada being wrecked before it could reach these shores and Napoleon's failure to mount an invasion of England. Now, in the summer of 1940, the cone was needed again. And it was done
      Although the details are a little sketchy, it seems that a large number of witches gathered to do this. The magical power came from the people themselves. In some way, not fully explained, this force was formed into a cone, which could be directed at the mind of Adolf Hitler. Cynics will scoff, but history records that there was no invasion.
      A short while afterwards, because of such power, some of the witches died due to what was believed to be “natural causes”. Such a thing could be done through a concerted effort not to destroy but to heal and build this nation.
      And that is the type of magic that this nation needs, and it will take a huge effort by a lot of people and we can do it one person at a time.
    2. Have you read The Divine Matrix? A quote stuck with me from that book. Only peace can exist with peace. Meaning our inner environment sets the tone for our outter environment. This election is a magnifying glass to the country's inner environment. Far too many people are angry and offended.
    3. Dear Crystal,
      Surprisingly that book is on my shelf of books I have lined up to read, but have not gotten to as yet, at least not to read in depth.
      But from what I was able to skim here and there, it seems to take the principles as alluded to in the old Star Wars movie the energy called “The Force” and the author researched and built upon that principal.
      The question to ask is “which people are angry and offended?” The real inner environment so far appears to be what some people refer to as “America’s Heartland” sometimes called “The Bible Belt”, what some pundit’s have on occasion refer to “The Forgotten Ones”.
      The late Richard Rorty, a Stanford professor of philosophy made a prediction:
      In 1998, he argued in “Achieving Our Country: Leftist Thought in Twentieth-Century America” that “old industrialized democracies” are heading toward a period “in which populist movements are likely to overturn constitutional governments.”
      He said the left had embraced identity politics at the expense of economic justice. Resentment would fester among the working class as they realized that the powers that be were not fighting to stop wages from shrinking or jobs from being sent overseas.
      He suggested that many would turn to a “strongman” to flip the script on the smug, overpaid and deceitful who had long neglected their suffering. The author said the progress made on behalf of ethnic minorities, homosexuals and women would then run the risk of being rolled back.
      One reason Rorty perceived something many other left-leaning academics missed might have to do with his chosen philosophical tradition: pragmatism, which emphasizes practical consequences.
      He died in 2007, so we will never know for sure what he would have thought about Trump’s highly unconventional campaign.
      A few days after Trump’s surprise victory, Queen’s University law professor Lisa Kerr and others posted a particularly prescient passage from “Achieving Our Country” on Twitter.
      Those paragraphs swiftly caught fire on social media and were shared thousands of times. The New Yorker cited the passage in a profile of President Obama, and the New York Times analyzed the words in-depth.
      Here is the slightly condensed version of the passage that Kerr posted online:
      “[M]embers of labor unions, and unorganized unskilled workers, will sooner or later realize that their government is not even trying to prevent wages from sinking or to prevent jobs from being exported. Around the same time, they will realize that suburban white-collar workers — themselves desperately afraid of being downsized — are not going to let themselves be taxed to provide social benefits for anyone else.
      At that point, something will crack. The nonsuburban electorate will decide that the system has failed and start looking around for a strongman to vote for — someone willing to assure them that, once he is elected, the smug bureaucrats, tricky lawyers, overpaid bond salesmen, and postmodernist professors will no longer be calling the shots.… “
      And that is exactly what’s happened here in the Heart of America, the Heads of State, did not listen to the heart, this is more than anger, this has been a long disconnect and the People who voted, “The Deplorables” as Clinton called them, spoke out and said “Enough is Enough, Listen to US!!”
      And the Liberal Right had better listen because this is a serious wake up call. This was a long time coming “disturbance in The Force.”
      Even I sensed it long before this election came along, and now it’s here.
      Bright Blessings,
      Ms. Q
    4. Love your blogs! Sad so many were fooled by Trump (sadder about those who were not fooled). His policies and proposals actually exasperate the very issues addressed above. I was going to get more politically detailed but there is a text limit here, so instead wish to address the spiritual/metaphysical more so. As much as we are unsatisfied with the government, it is still our best hope as evidenced in countries where there is anarchy or totalatarianism or where people can not coexist. We are fortunate to live in a country with a strong democratic republic...still, the disturbance in the force is indeed great. The violence, anger, and negativity in general permeates the atmosphere (in general, even when politics are not involved and not just in the U.S.) Of all the other candidates available ( and there were a lot!) many in the country chose to shut off their critical thinking skills or their higher consciences or sense of decency to vote for and support a man of poor character, great arrogance...a narcissist, etc. not to say others have not had some of these qualities, but they at least hid them better, he blatantly showed his worst qualities and people said yes to this and some emulated his examples! (Then many just opted out completely and did not vote at all) Most hurtful and disturbing part of it all, is that of the NUMEROUS running for office, who represented or addressed the issues mentioned in your earlier posts, the person who was blatantly of poor character was chosen! There were those who chose him perhaps because he was a familiar face they saw weekly on T.V. Or someone close was for him. Sigh. Some Americans instead chose this character who is one heck of a great showman and entertainer but is playing with our lives and setting terrible examples. Hurtful, but I was not surprised because politics aside, that sort of personality is what seems to appeal to the majority today. It seems we live in a time where thoughtfulness, reserve, patience, diligence, modesty, civil interchange, ethics, good manners, respect for the earth and fellow inhabitants is devalued and instead it is all about who can be loudest, rudest, crudest, who has the most followers, or the most swag and it has for many years been a value system gaining momentum and has now manifested in the presidency. It is a spiritual disconnect. It seems like there is something going on beyond politics and not just in the U.S.
      Ms.Q along with our infernal temperatures and emotionally infernal atmosphere, please send bright blessings for hope, healing, wisdom,sanity, and temperence. For balance. Please post things to remind people we are all individuals and every random person we encounter should be treated with basic courtesy and respect upon meeting. That even opponents can treat eachother respectfully and engage honorably. Remind us all of what scarcity thinking or stinginess does (which is not the same as conservation or frugality) what scapegoating does, of how dismissing someone's worth superficially, or 'judging a book by its cover",is such a loss. How even within this very blog we see the many threads of America(ns) so beautifully woven into a rich tapestry of colorful tradition from all parts of the globe, all periods of time, all economic classes, all religions and philosophies beautifully mingled to produce something that is uniquely American...and how amazing each of those components and its origins are (just like the people) and how our democracy makes this possible. How there will never be a time when everyone is a hundred per cent satisfied (except maybe for a few seconds) and that a happy medium sometimes is the best solution and will have to do for a bit especially in areas that will keep. That sometimes pragmatism will lead, and other times idealism will. I ask this because while inside, most of us know these things, sometimes we all need a friend to remind us.
  4. thanks. Thats interesting! Not sure I am able to do so nor how to do such a thing. it seems a viral sigil would work. as well. Your thoughts? As for the divide? Some people wont change out of fear. On the left are minorities who believe everyone who isnt putting their specific interests first (at the expense of the whole) as evil incarnate. On the right got the Christians, and gun owners who cling to the GOP. The real problem is corporate might who owns both sides. So no matter who wins the election, the voters suffer long term loss. So there needs to be a new version of what tolerance is to provide refuge for both camps. New ways of thinking are needed.
    1. My Dear,
      Again I’ll have to do this in two parts.
      Not impossible really, IF you have enough people.
      A few years ago George Noory on the Coast to Coast radio program wanted to do an experiment and have his listeners focus their minds to form clouds to create rain, it was partially successful, rain came down in areas where no rain was expected to fall.
      But because these were people not trained to focus it only had limited success.
      Some years further back in 1987, there was an event called “The Harmonic Convergence” That name was given to one of the world's first globally synchronized meditation events, which occurred on August 16–17, 1987, which also closely coincided with an exceptional alignment of planets in the Solar System.
      The timing of the Convergence was allegedly significant in the Maya calendar.
      The chosen dates had the distinction of allegedly marking a planetary alignment with the Sun, Moon and six out of eight planets being "part of the grand trine." .
      The principal organizer of this event was José Argüelles. Though Arguelles eventually connected the timing of the Harmonic Convergence with his understanding of the significance of Maya calender workings, the dates themselves were derived not from Maya cosmology but from Tony Shearer's reconstructed Aztec prophecies.
      I’m not going to get into all the details of this event but an important part of the Convergence observances was the idea of congregating at "power centers” at such places as Mount Shasta, Ca, Mount Fuji, and Mount Yamnuska where the spiritual energy was held to be particularly strong.
      The belief was that if 144,000 people assembled at these power centers and meditated for peace, that the arrival of the new era would be facilitated.
      I could not be at Mt. Shasta but I managed to get to the top of Mt. Diablo (had to bribe with donuts and a thermos of hot coffee, a couple of Rangers) it was beyond over cast the cloud cover was low, wet, a bit windy I put out my crystals, meditated and focused, all was quiet, I was cut off from the world, suddenly I felt something go into my “third eye” almost like an invisible beam, going down into me through my feet into the ground, then up again, the air around me felt brighter, I could feel this invisible fire coming through me, I felt my heart beating faster and faster, it took everything I had to slow my heart rate down, then I was knocked off my feet.
      Continue to part 2
      Delete
    2. Part 2
      For a brief moment I felt connected to a thousand minds, then it was over, I’ve never felt anything like that again.
      After that day I found my intuition was much better, sharper, but there was a consequence, I had developed a heart murmur, my Doctor was surprised at the sudden development of it.
      So it can be done, IF you get enough people.
      Using a sigil? You could, but it needs to be to bring people together and understand we need to heal and look at what those folks in rural communities were saying, what the evil they were seeing and that those, who want a socialism government, in the greater cities could not see, then calm the fears, and know that a lot of things cannot happen overnight, there are laws.
      Even Trump on “60 Minutes” said “Stop it” meaning stop the threats to minorities, the harassment and stop the vandalism.
      If anything lets draw something from “Star Trek” the Vulcan IDIC, Infinite Diversity in Infinite Combinations as well as this statement ‘The needs of the many outweigh the needs of the few’.
      This can be a beautiful statement but it can also be a frightening statement unless we all work together to unify to make America a great nation.
      Aby Irving said at the end of her thesis “The biggest battle that we face in our social evolution is the path towards equality and unity, the many and the few need to join together to become the one. Unity alone, however, is not enough, we have to learn to accept that while ‘we’ should stand together, ‘we’ will always be made up of hundreds of millions unique individuals. Each one of these individuals has their own life, voice and inherent worth.”
      So the democrats need to listen to the republicans as well as the republicans listening to the democrats and the Independents and Tea parties need to listen to everyone. And we have to keep a close eye on Corporate interests.
      My Dear you have a big job ahead of you. But all it takes is one positive step in the right direction. It’s possible you can do it. I know I’ll do what I can, given my health problems. Good Wishes to you.
      Bright Blessings,
      Ms. Q
  5. It seems this election is not yet over or appears to be. Clinton's popular vote count keeps rising. Yet Donald won on election night. Will these new developments with the popular vote concerning Clinton over turn Trump's win? Its rare but a lot of things this year seems to have been rare has occurred as well.
    1. Hello My Dear,
      Only if the popular vote is more than enough to turn the red states blue and have the members of the Electoral college then move their votes over to the other candidate.
      In some states it's winner take all, but only in a few states can the members of the electoral college move their votes independently. What they call "Faithless Voters".
      This happened once in the last 30 years when one member voted independent and not with the others.
      The whole idea of the Electoral college is to have members who will see how the state votes, and their votes cannot be bought, nor can they be intimidated or influenced by foreign governments.
      Which the popular vote can be.
      I've been reading up on the Electoral College and now I understand why it is there.
      And really NEEDS to be there.
      If anything at all this is a time to learn how each function of an election works, how each function of how each department works.
      Each state gets a certain number of Electoral Votes that number is based on the Census that comes around every 10 years, this is to insure that even the small states have equal representation.
      If people do not fill out the census, they are not counted and that state does not get those extra electoral votes.
      California has 55 electoral college votes, 30 years ago it had only 40, its population, as tallied by the census, went up.
      The Electoral college will vote on Dec 19th it's results based on how each state voted, not on the over all popular vote, that way each state has a say, not just a majority of the population of the entire U.S.
      That is why the Electoral College is important, it prevents states like California from overrunning states like Idaho. And it prevents States like Texas that has 38 votes from overrunning Colorado.
      The Electoral College was instituted by the 12th and 23rd Amendment, anyone wanting to change that will have to change the entire Constitution.
      So at least 19 votes have to go to Clinton but she still has to come up with 270 to be declared a winner.
      The whole idea of the Electoral College is to prevent Mob Rule. Personally I don't want someone like Michael Bloomberg telling me I can't have my Coca Cola by having a vote to tax it by a penny per ounce. That is both a Nanny State and "Mob" rule.
      So study how government works, it's an eye-opener.
      Bright Blessings,
      Ms. Q
